Construction Delays
Small delays but big hopes for the future!

FOPS statement:
Construction on the Seventh Street Park, expected to begin this summer, will be delayed due to the need to raise more funds. The City has learned that it did not receive a state grant to underwrite Phase II of the design concept, and, while FOPS has raised close to $1 million from state and private sources, an additional $600,000 is needed before a construction agreement can be signed. We remain hopeful that a large federal “earmark” grant procured by Congressman Josh Riley will come through this fall, and will defer until after that decision is reached consideration of our options.
Riley Requests Funding for 15 Community Projects Across Upstate New York - Including the Public Square!
Representative Josh Riley will be submitting the Public Square to the Appropriations Committee in support of the renovation of the park in the amount of $2 million. FOPS is among 15 projects chosen, narrowed down from some 75 projects submitted. We are thrilled to be chosen by our Representative for consideration.
This type of request is difficult to predict the outcome as it goes through a lengthy negotiation process, but that said, we are grateful for the show of support from Rep. Riley.
